Here talking about Thangalaan Reviews The movie Kolar Gold transports us to the year 1850 CE (Common Era), approximately 250-300 years ago. It tells the tale of the protagonist's great-grandfather and how both locals and the British chase after the gold from the Kolar Gold Fields. The movie masterfully combines fantasy and action elements, showcasing the dramatic consequences of their pursuit.

The film’s runtime is around two and a half hours, but the story moves so swiftly that it’s hard to notice when the interval arrives. The first half of the movie is exceptionally fast-paced, and the second half follows the same momentum. However, this rapid progression causes the movie to feel rushed as if the filmmakers were trying to squeeze in too much content without enough time. This results in a climax that struggles to tie everything together cohesively.

Despite the pacing issues, Kolar Gold shines due to Chiyaan Vikram's outstanding performance. His natural acting elevates the movie, and his portrayal of the protagonist is so compelling that one feels like embracing him for his brilliant work. The chemistry between his character and his wife, Gangamma, stands out, providing a mix of playful and emotional moments that feel incredibly authentic as if they were truly a married couple.

The character of Aarthi is particularly fascinating due to its mythological and devotional aspects. However, her role could have been explored more deeply, adding greater depth to her character. Her presence in the film comes and goes without leaving a lasting impact, a missed opportunity in an otherwise compelling narrative.

The first half of Kolar Gold is near perfect, deserving a 10/10 score. Unfortunately, the second half falls short, earning a 6 or 7 out of 10. The climax features a snake, a black panther, and even a buffalo, but the CGI is noticeably artificial. On the big screen, these visual effects appear fake, and it’s easy to tell that they are computer-generated, detracting from the movie's immersive experience.

Watching the Hindi dubbed version, the dubbing itself was decent, though not extraordinary. For the first time, I felt that Sanket Mhatre’s voice didn’t quite fit Chiyaan Vikram’s character, Thangalaan. Usually, Mhatre’s voice matches Vikram’s roles perfectly, but this time, a rougher, more textured voice would have been more appropriate for the character.

Thangalaan is packed with fantasy and fiction, making it a must-watch for fans of these genres. The performances, especially by the leading actors, make the movie worth seeing. There is some violence and profanity, but the offensive language has been beeped out. However, certain dialogues about a blouse, especially one in the second half, may feel awkward if watching with family. It's best to watch with an open mind.

In conclusion, I would rate Thangalaan 3.5 out of 5 stars.
